Beauty in natural materials
Exotic woods
We source new growth exotic, old stock and reclaimed woods from sawmills based in the UK.
All our new grown woods are CITES compliant.
The highly figured appearance and colour combinations we chase are rare.
Nature's stained glass
Our gemstones are sourced from across the world. Small in size, hard, transparent and, above all, multi-coloured.
By using gems straight out of the ground we eliminate wasteful processes of cutting and faceting. We blend different coloured stones in a matrix to achieve the desired stained glass effect.
Many stones carry an intrinsic value and every product we produce is unique.
Decorative stone
It maybe a surprise how many decorative stone types occur and have previously been mined in the UK. Ranging from super exotic turquoise, to multicoloured jaspers, bright yellow and green serpentines, shimmering schists to coral filled marbles.
We try to source all our decorative stone in the UK but certain colour patterns are sourced across the globe.
Advanced ceramics
Ceramics and cements consume a lot of energy in their manufacture. Our sister company, Hurd3, has been exploring low carbon alternatives for binding natural fibres.
We have created alternatives which mimic pottery like Parian Ware, can be multicoloured, textured and moulded to form intricate shapes and are extremely hard and water resistant. Above all, when manufactured using renewable energy, they have a lower carbon footprint than either Portland cement or lime and are easier to process.
We are only just starting down the road to explore possibilities.
Coloured glass, which we consider to be a type of ceramic, does not carry the intrinsic value of natural gems but can mirror colour patterns and textures. We can produce flat window structures through to intricate shaped surfaces.
Metals
We cut and plate metals to stunning effect, focusing on copper for its warmth and colour combination with other materials.
Texture and shape of organic materials are captured and stabilised to stunning effect.
